Juan Valenzuela, M.S.W., L.C.S.W. Juan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from Cal State University, Northridge, where he obtained his master’s degree. A few modalities and theories Juan utilizes are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Attachment Theory, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Juan utilizes a client-centered approach that is strength-based and goal-oriented. He has experience working with adults, children, adolescents, and young adults from various backgrounds. Juan works with clients who are focusing on one or more of the following: · Trauma, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) · Depression · Anxiety (i.e., general, social, etc.), · Emotional Regulation & Distress Tolerance · Loss & Grief · Communication & Conflict · Family Dynamics · Identity Work · Sexuality · Self Confidence · Life Stressors (finding purpose/meaning, career/future planning, navigating changes or adjustments) My journey into clinical social work began about ten years ago when I realized there was a significant need for positive male role models in my community. One specific example is when I was informed by my community church that they had a pressing need for leaders. So I stepped in to counsel a group of adolescent boys as they journeyed together to navigate their faith journeys, social/family relationships, moods/emotions, relational conflicts, social anxieties, and more. This experience motivated my desire to become a therapist using a holistic approach to help people navigate complex life experiences and achieve their health and wellness goals.
