My name is Juan Ponce and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Currently, I am based in San Diego, CA but working with clients via telehealth. I have over 9 years of experience working in the mental health field. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and I provide a culturally competent, non-judgmental, and safe space in which clients can explore their feelings. My approach I use an integrative approach that is based on the needs of the client and begins with compassion and empathy. Frequently, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, strength-based and solution-focused as part of my approach to treatment as a way to challenge, empower, and help clients build insight. I also incorporate, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based practices as a way to guide clients to healthier ways of managing their life. My focus Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations and enjoy working with people of all ages. I specialize in working with issues of anxiety, depression stress management, mood disorders, and trauma. I also help individuals with relationship issues, life transitions, grief, self-esteem issues, sexuality and gender, and substance use issues. My communication style My communication style is calm, empathetic, and understanding with the purpose of creating a secure and comfortable space for anyone to address their mental health needs. My journey to mental healthcare My motivation to enter the mental health field stemmed from wanting to be a support person to others as well as helping to make a positive and lasting impact in my community. My goals for you I have a collaborative approach to goal setting with clients that aims to work together to develop a plan to achieve their goals. I hope to be able to provide clients with the tools to better manage life's stressors and live a more balanced life through the power of therapy.
