About

Hi, my name is Juan C. Mendoza, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT#116475). I have 9 years of experience working as a therapist. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, which means, I work side by side with my clients. I meet clients where they are, and we work together to find that Aha moment in their lives. I am experienced in working with children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), ADHD, and other behavioral problems. I am also experienced in working with parents through the use of an evidence-based practice called Triple P (Positive Parenting Program). I also have experience working with adults with anxiety and depression, PTSD, and relationship issues. My approach My therapeutic approach to therapy is client-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused Cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT), Triple P, solution-focused, Play therapy, and family systems. My focus I enjoy working with children and adolescents, parents, and adults. My specialties are parenting issues, trauma, communication issues, behavioral problems, and mood disorders. My communication style I enjoy working with all my clients, but in order to have a successful session, clients need to feel safe and comfortable. One of my first priorities in therapy is to develop a safe environment where my clients feel comfortable discussing core issues that may be getting in the way of reaching their full potential. I work side by side with my clients until they resolve what brought them to therapy. My journey to mental healthcare What attracted me to become a therapist was a desire to help people. As a young adolescent, I did not understand much about myself, but once I graduated and began college, I understood that what I wanted to do was help people understand themselves. That is what drives my work every day. The desire to continue helping people find who they really are.
