About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado with over 18 years of experience working as a behavioral health therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and trauma. I also helped many people who have faced charges in the justice system. I have experience working with and treating mental health professionals.
My counseling style is warm yet directive. Together we will set therapy goals and check in on our progress regularly. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and solution-focused therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. If this is your first time in therapy, welcome! I enjoy working with clients new to therapy and I do my best to make your experience a positive one.
I grew up in Mesa, AZ and completed my undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. I graduated from the University of Denver in 2003 with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and worked for 11 years at the 18th Judicial District Attorney's office counseling teens, families and adults involved in the justice system. For the past 7 years I worked in a healthcare setting (Kaiser Permanente) providing outpatient therapy to all ages. It is an honor to hear your story and have your trust. The therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy, so I am always open to discussing goodness of fit and check in on how you're feeling with the therapy process.
I also volunteer with Canine Companions, training service dogs for people in need. I worked for 8 years providing animal-assisted therapy to patients, so I am very familiar with the amazing bond we have with our pets and how this can aid in our therapeutic process.
I look forward to working with you!
