About

I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 25 years experience in the social service and counseling field. Over the years, I have gravitated to a more holistic approach with mental health and love helping my clients have the power within themselves to find wisdom and resources to feel content and find a more peaceful way to respond to internal and external stressors in their lives. My favorite part of the counseling process is seeing that spark in someone after it had been lost or never present and then watching positive transformations happen as a result.

I use a client-centered approach where the focus is on helping my clients fully explore situations through active listening, reflective listening, empathy and related self-disclosure. I like to empower clients to find their answers within through mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches focused on tools for healing such as journal writing, relaxation breathing techniques, meditation and yoga. I'm also influenced by techniques used through brief solution-focused treatment, which gives clients a lot of encouragement and control over their own healing to help clients not feel dependent on me, but rather dependent on themselves and gain confidence about capabilities. I also have experience with helping with parenting skills using a peaceful, connection parenting approach.
