About
I have been working in the helping profession since 2008, I started working in Crisis Services that was an adjunct to an Acute Psychiatric Hospital doing Social Work. I first learned the meaning of compassion working in a Crisis Center. Later on, I started working more with the Substance Abuse patients going through detox. I went back to school for my Substance Abuse Certificate and became a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor. Then I started working in Outpatient Services in the Day Hospital program. I was also very involved in the evaluation and development of group therapy in Outpatient Services and I have worked in OWI Court/Drug Court models in the community. I worked with the homeless/ drug abuse population for a while helping them get into residential treatment. I also spent a short time serving clients that had opiate use disorders. For the last 13 years I have only worked with adults no children.
I use more of a person-centered approach while interacting with my clients while in session. After all, we are all Human. Soon after this I found myself going back to graduate school learning more about Community Counseling at Lakeland University to obtain a Master's Degree.
While I worked in the private sector, I worked on getting my Clinical Supervisor training. And now I'm a Independent Clinical Supervisor and worked in multiple outpatient clinics in a consultant capacity. I currently work as a Licensed Professional Counselor doing psychotherapy in a Community Mental Health Clinic. I am EMDR trained which can aid in trauma recovery for those clients that have PTSD. I mainly use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help treat mood/anxiety disorders & trauma- and stress-related disorders.
I've been married since 2006 and we have a 10 year old son together. I also have been Honorably Discharge from WI ARNG in 2011 after serving over 12 years. I enjoy family time and fishing in spare time. Plus, doing anything outdoors and being in nature is where I find peace.
