Hello! My name is Joseph, and I am a licensed Independent Clinical Therapist with over six years of experience providing therapy services. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work Practice. My practice experience cuts across a wide range of therapeutic settings, including Inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, outpatient, intensive programs, residential treatment programs, and running a private group practice. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and stress.
I am eclectic in my clinical approach in treating emotional and behavioral difficulties. My clinical practice is Client-Centered and Integrative. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I draw from various therapeutic theories and techniques such as cognitive, humanistic, experiential, solution-focused, psycho-educational, and motivational interviewing.
Life transitions and stressors cause us to re-examine our present sense of being. Overwhelming emotions, thoughts, and feelings can get the best of us. We get lost in our thoughts, creating feelings of resentment, anxiety, depression, and overall defeat. This cyclic thought process impacts the quality of our lives and overflows into other meaningful relationships we care about, such as our spouses, friends, family, co-workers, and children. My role in this therapeutic relationship is to help you reach your true potential by discovering a sense of acceptance, contentment, and freedom from issues that have previously kept you stagnant and unfulfilled in life. I will do my best to make your therapy experience personable, comfortable, and supportive. I recognize that the idea of therapy can be somewhat overwhelming, and I commend you for the courage to reach out.
