My name is Joe and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. I have been working in the social work field for 8 years and have been working specifically in mental health and substance abuse counseling for 5 years. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and have a lot of experience with working with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives. I am currently working towards my Doctorate of Clinical Social Work, which has proven to be both challenging and rewarding. I have multiple years experience working with Veterans, post-conviction felons, couples, families, and individuals.

My treatment approach is dependent on my client's needs. I do not believe that any client's struggles are exactly the same as anyone else's, and for that reason I think it is necessary to not make assumptions about a client's needs or their personal pain. I have worked with many different treatment modalities and am more than prepared to tailor my approach and style to your needs. Some of the areas in which I have experience are CBT, DBT, Interpersonal Psychoanalysis, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Couples Counseling, and Gestalt Therapy... to name a few. One of the ways I approach therapy is that I treat symptoms, not a diagnosis. Many people come to therapy with a diagnosis that may carry a large amount of symptoms associated with that diagnosis. But everyone's severity of symptoms will be different and the symptoms in which they suffer from will be different, so I have found it more therapeutically helpful to address individual symptoms, rather than the diagnosis as a whole.

My treatment modalities vary based on the needs of my clients and I firmly believes that everyone needs a treatment that is custom made for the goals they want to achieve. Together we will discuss any issues you are having, explore those issues, find the root of those issues, establish goals to combat those issues, and set you on a path to a happier and healthier life.
