About
I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, since 1990, to the present, and with active licenses in both New York, and New Jersey, along with the post-graduate completion of, and Certification as, a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. Prior to this, I conducted extensive research in Behavioral Physiology, researching phenomena related to anxious, and conversion symptoms, in both inpatient, and outpatient settings, and studying neuroanatomical sites linked to motivation, and drugs of abuse, with strong correlates to pleasure-seeking behaviors. These sub-cortical sites, in the brain, and the neurotransmitters associated with these sites, have also been greatly implicated in the endogenous mechanisms of anxiety, depression, and trauma, among others. In addition to these professional experiences, I also have more than thirty years’ experience working with forensic matters, having qualified as an expert witness on death penalty, and major crime cases, in jurisdictions across the U.S., and abroad. Hence, I bring a wealth of knowledge; applied direct care, supervision, and administrative oversight of treatment with a broad range of populations in the mental health field. My work ranges from the direct and on-going treatment of individuals suffering from Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Stress-related functional difficulties, as seen in my private practice, to the depth of extreme disability and disenfranchisement of persons with chronic, severe, and persistent mental disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and delusional illnesses, with equally disabling personality disorders. As a function of all of the above, and other related experiences, I see psychotherapy, as an opportunity to lend guidance, including clinical approaches, to reduce debilitating symptomology, uncovering underlying root causes (psychogenesis), and extend empathic support, and care to those in treatment, committing to improve quality of life, and sustainability.
