Hello, my name is Johnie Souza and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Oregon. Thank you for considering me as your potential therapist. It's really hard to select a mental health provider, so I hope you find the best match for your goals. I believe each person has a purpose and is given unique gifts and challenges.
My role as your therapist is to assist you in reaching your goals and to encourage you to work toward the life that you envision for yourself. My primary orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, however I use elements of Reality Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as well as Brief Solution Focused Therapy techniques. I have worked with adults in individual therapy as well as a group therapy settings. My primary specialties are providing support and active feedback for those coping with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety. I think taking the first step to find a therapist is a great move forward, I'm a supportive and caring person with 7 years of experience as a mental health therapist. In my off time I love to read, knit (poorly I might add!), and spend time with my family. I am an avid runner and love to hike when weather allows. I love to be outside and travel as often as possible. My favorite destination is Iceland, so rich in culture and beauty. I grew up in Oregon and deeply love and appreciate the beauty here. My personal goals are to be as kind, open minded, and caring as possible. I try to balance my life with levity and humor, but mostly I keep seeking goodness and look for the kindness in others.
