I am John-Michael Spangler and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. The above quote from Carl Rogers describes my approach to counseling very well. Each person is unique and it is through this uniqueness that we find our true strengths. My experience lies primarily in helping my clients find their way through the anxiety, depression and overwhelm that comes along with life's big struggles. I also specialize in neurodiversity and assisting my clients in exploring how their unique experiences can become strengths in their journey forward through life.

My counseling style is client centered, working from a place of warmth and engagement. I believe that each person brings their own unique experiences to their struggles and it is these struggles that ultimately lead us to our full actualization. My approach to counseling involves a healthy dose of strength based exploration mixed with a solid set of Cognitive and Relational tools to help you find your way through your current struggles and develop the skills to take on whatever may come your way in the future.

I received my Bachelors in Psychology at Seattle University and my Master in Counseling from Antioch University, which is where I currently teach in their counseling program as an adjunct professor.
