About
Dr. John B. Evans holds two masters and a PhD in the behavioral sciences and is author of the book WHY YOU DO THAT, which is designed to help people understand their basic personality characteristics. For over 33 years, Dr. Evans has concentrated in multiple areas including individual, couples, and family therapy, difficult relationships, abusive relationships, stress management, substance abuse, and conducted evaluations for Dallas Probation for eight years. Dr. Evans was an adjunct professor in social work for five years at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas and was a licensed supervisor training other therapists in Dallas for five years.
Dr. Evans recognizes that a good understanding of our basic self is critical for adequate self-awareness and self-control. While you may not be responsible for creating your personality in the past, it is your responsibility to create and maintain the stability of your personality in the present and future simply because no one else can do it for you, although therapy can speed the process along to a considerable degree. Individual characteristics must also be recognized when problems arise in relationships or the family as a whole, in which case couples and/or family therapy may be recommended.
