About

As a young adult during graduate school at Boston College in 2008 I began my social work/counseling career in a men's medium security prison in Massachusetts. There, I provided individual and group therapy to particularly vulnerable incarcerated individuals, who were dealing with mental health challenges on top of their incarceration. After several years working in correctional mental health I transitioned into an outpatient counseling role in an outpatient detox center and provided support to adults in the community who were managing addiction on an outpatient basis.

Eventually, I opened my own outpatient psychotherapy practice in Norwood MA, where I built and managed a caseload of individuals ranging from teens to older adults, who were dealing with a variety of mental health concerns, stressors, or transitions. Here, I managed both the business and clinical aspects of counseling. I provided treatment to individuals managing depression, anxiety, mood instability, stress, relationship issues, low self esteem, poor confidence, parenting challenges, grief and loss, topics unique LGBTQIA individuals and life transitions including transitioning into adulthood, graduating from college, aging, and retirement. Additionally, I provided couple's counseling to partners preparing for marriage, managing parenting styles, or affected by infidelity.

While maintaining the private practice, I began working for the Alzheimer's Association MA/NH chapter as a memory specialist. In this role I provided telephonic consultations to individuals and families caring for loved ones with memory impairment or dementia. During a consultation, a caregiver/care-partner and I would review future planning, difficult behaviors, disease education and caregiver burnout. Sometimes, the individuals and families found my ability to listen to be the most valuable part of the service provided.

A relocation out of MA led me to begin providing support to individuals on a virtual basis. I find value in emotional support, validation, and a listening ear being easily accessible via a platform that so many of us use so frequently every day. With eleven years of clinical experience I am confident in my ability to provide support to individuals facing a variety of challenges. Additionally, I am comfortable making appropriate recommendations if I do not believe I am a good fit for a particular individual or situation or that one's needs may be better met in a different therapeutic setting.

My approach to connecting with individuals on a virtual basis are similar to the approaches I have used in the past with face to face sessions with individuals and families. The challenges we face in life, ranging from daily stress to traumatizing events, can be difficult to deal with. Family support and friends can be immensely helpful, but at times we need an unbiased listener to help us see things clearer. Please allow me to be that listener to help you with whatever it is you are going through.

I am a solution focused therapist and can help clients develop creative solutions to their problems. I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership that requires hard work and honesty from both parties.
