About
I have been working in the mental health field for 21 years. By mishap I wound up working in this field as a young woman and knew that I had found my home. Working with individuals and families I found that I could be the most powerful just by taking the time to genuinely listen to someone. I have honed that skill for 21 years and believe that the same skill I learned 21 years ago is still my most essential asset. I am the mother of a 22-year-old. I am originally from NJ but have been fortunate to call FL home for the past twenty years.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been licensed since 2017. I attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL where I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work. Prior experience has included working in inpatient behavioral health settings, longer term residential treatment centers, intensive outpatient programing (IOP) focused on dual diagnosis as well as in the outpatient setting focusing on substance abuse and mental health.
My approach is a person & family centered therapy. I have a strong belief that most of us hold our own answers but through the hectic lives we live we often lose clarity and sometimes require someone to guide us out of the dark. Identifying an individual’s intrinsic motivation for change has been a goal that I have always set when listening to a patient. Over the years of working in addictions therapy I began to notice a common theme, no matter the extent of the addiction, there was almost always a trauma at some point that occurred in that individual life. What I discovered is patients were often unaware of what trauma was and how it affected the biological and emotional functions of their body. Trauma, addictions, attachment disorders, anxiety, depression and life changes become a passion area that I found the most satisfaction seeing an individual transform from beginning to end. I have found it the utmost compliment that patients have entrusted me with their lives and stories and allowed me to join them in their transformation across the seasons.
