I'm a licensed clinical social worker who has been in clinical practice for over 40 years. I practice solution focused brief therapy. This model is focused on helping you think about what you want to be different and better in your life. This frees you up to explore alternative (and more useful) ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Is brief therapy effective? The prestigious "Handbook of Psychotherapy and Behavior Change" states, "Comparative studies of brief psychotherapy offer little evidence of differences between time-limited and unlimited therapy." You will accomplish as much with a brief therapist as you would with a long-term therapist.
