My name is Joann Ikeh and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in California and have a tele-health license in Florida, with 14 years experience as a therapist and 18 years working in mental health. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have found it to be a very effective approach in helping people feel better fairly quickly. I have worked with people of all ages from young children to older adults. I have specialization in treating Trauma using some of the following evidenced based practices; Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children, and Cognitive Processing Therapy and Seeking Safety with adolescents and adults. I have also treated many individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues and life transitions.

I also have lived on 3 continents and have extensively studied cultures. This has been very helpful in working with intercultural couples or individuals that are experiencing cultural adjustments or just need someone who is sensitive to how our cultures shape our worldview.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership where we work together to help you accomplish your goals. I take the approach that everything we do is collaborative and I will regularly check in with you to make sure that what we are doing is helpful and working for you, and if it is not then we will change what we are doing until we find what helps you the most.

Seeking help is not always easy, and I am so glad that you have taken this step. I truly believe that far too many people suffer for far too long from mental health conditions that are very treatable.
