About
I am a first-generation, Latinx, Mexican American female. As someone who has struggled, fought, and overcome, I consider it a privilege to assist others in finding their way through their journey. I am a dancer, an artist, a creator, a mother, a wife, a survivor, a counselor, and a Ph.D. student in marriage and family therapy- aspects that assist me in the creative connection that I believe therapy to be. Counseling is an art form in that a person is given permission to gain access to what is most personal, private, and possibly broken within. I believe it takes creativity, passion, and humility to enter into the therapeutic connection, walking alongside someone through their pain, their struggle, or their uncertainty. As someone who grew up as a Mexican, first-generation college student and is now successful, I understand the pain, trauma, and survival that comes from being a person of color or from a different culture, community, or religious background than mainstream America. As such, I am very carefully attuned to these differences as I work with different ethnic cultures, the LGBTQ population, and different religious backgrounds. I am an ally, and my goal and intention are to help everyone along their journeys succeed and thrive in whatever direction they feel they are being led.
