My approach for psychotherapy is integrative, personalizing the theories of interpersonal, humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approach. As a non-judgemental and supportive professional you can trust and feel seen, I would like to work collaboratively with you, helping you get through a difficult and challenging life journey so that you can make positive changes in your life, achieve your personal growth and develop skills for improving relationships with yourself and others. My clinical interests include marginalized cultural identity issues, immigration/diaspora issues, life transition/adjustment issues, relationship concerns and interpersonal trauma. I can provide psychotherapy in English and Korean languages. I work with adult clients with ages 18 and up. I am a generalist counseling psychologist, licensed in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. I have worked as a staff psychologist at various university counseling centers for the 20 years, with most recently at the University of Maryland Counseling Center, providing counseling, supervision training and various outreach workshops. I received my master’s degree (1995) and phd degree (2001) in Counseling Psychology at University of Missouri-Columbia and completed my doctoral internship at University Counseling Center at University of Missouri-Kansas City (2000). I completed my post-doctoral training at University Counseling Services at Virginia Commonwealth University (2002).
