About

Hi there, I'm Jill! Jill Shinn, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Hi there, I'm Jill! I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose focus is on helping clients move from where they are now, to a better place in their lives. Whether the main goal is reducing anxiety, increasing self-esteem, healing old wounds, or improving relationships, we will work together to upgrade your life! My approach My approach is largely psychodynamic, but also very eclectic. My toolbox includes a variety of mindfulness, transpersonal, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to healing and wellness. Mostly, I tune in to where you are, and we go from there! My focus Near and dear to my heart is working with clients who are struggling with self-worth and/or relationship issues. I find that many of us have a nagging sense that we are "not good enough", and this shows up in a variety of symptoms (anxiety, depression, guilt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, compulsive behavior, codependency, and/or very difficult relationships!) I truly love seeing people become more confident and empowered in their lives! My communication style I'm an active listener who creates a warm and supportive space for you to share what's true for you. My clients describe me as empathic, intuitive, and insightful (but I can also be direct, and hold folks accountable!) My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist because I wanted to help people feel truly understood and supported, which was something I personally wish I'd had more of growing up. I started out as an interior designer, but quickly realized that my heart was in transforming and beautifying lives, not spaces! My goals for you Together we will discuss and set goals for your therapy and your life. This is a collaborative journey! My first session with you It is my job and intention to make our first session comfortable and encouraging for you. Whatever you're bringing to therapy, I hope you'll walk away feeling hopeful
