Hello! My name is Jessica Messina and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the wonderful state of Ohio. I have over 8 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and the geriatric populations in a community based counseling setting. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University in 2011. My experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, mood disorders, body image issues, and infertility struggles.

There are tons of counseling techniques and approaches out there for clinicians to use with their clients. Over the years, I've found what works best for me as a clinician and, most importantly, my clients. I use a framework of demonstrating empathy and remaining goal-oriented for my clients. I utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a Client-Centered approach in some capacity throughout the counseling relationship. However, I don't believe in a one size fits all approach. One thing that always rings true is that YOU are the expert of your life. Your input and insights are invaluable to the counseling process. Collaborating with you is extremely helpful in setting up suitable strategies that ultimately help you reach your identified goals of counseling.

I take pride in the work that I do as a counselor. Providing a warm, accepting environment without judgment is always of the utmost importance. We all deserve to have a safe space to be ourselves and work through whatever issues are weighing us down. I like to think I create a space that allows you to feel empowered to take ownership of your life and have a strong sense of support along the way while we do it together.
