About

My name is Jen and I'm a licensed professional counselor living in Colorado. I've spent the past six years counseling adolescents and young adults (13-21) as a Special Services Provider in schools as well as the past two years working with adults in community settings.

I like to meet people where they are in counseling and provide an accepting and judgement-free space to discuss whatever comes up. Whatever may arise for you in counseling, all of it is welcome! I specialize in helping people cope with life changes, with these changes coming in so many forms, sometimes planned and sometimes very unexpected. These life changes, challenges, and transitions can become overwhelming and as your counselor, I will come alongside you to help you navigate those times.

My approach and lens to counseling is client-centered and focuses on the physical, mental, social, and emotional person as a whole. I use a mixture of techniques from different modalities including solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness approaches. I value the uniqueness of each person and will work with you to figure out the best approach and plan to meet your needs.

During my counseling career, I’ve worked with individuals on a variety of topics including coping with life changes/transitions, stress and anxiety, health concerns (including individuals with chronic/acute conditions or cancer), family conflicts, relationship/friendship concerns, grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem/confidence, and anger management. I like to bring in mindfulness techniques into sessions if that resonates with you. As your counselor, I will help you in reviewing and understanding how your thoughts/self-talk, feelings and behaviors are connected and work with you on a plan to better your current situation.

I believe that everyone can use support at various times in their life because life hits us all hard sometimes. My goal is to empower individuals to feel more confident in their ability to handle life’s challenges and transitions. It takes courage to reach out and I look forward to learning more about you!

My current Find A Therapist hours are Mondays from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
