About
Jennifer Olin-Hitt is a licensed professional clinical counselor and an independent marriage and family therapist. In a world of complex demands and multiple stressors, patients need a patient-focused therapist who listens intently not just to their pressing needs, but their underlying story and unheard struggles. These are skills Jennifer has honed over decades of serving in the helping professions. She is honored to help her patients move past their struggles into a future of possibilities. When Jennifer treats a patient, she looks at their larger environment, their inherited family patterns, and the skills that they currently possess to navigate change. Ultimately, when a patient meets with Jennifer, they can expect to be heard and encouraged to grow. Her ultimate goal is to encourage patients so they can make the necessary changes to live fully. During sessions, patients can expect Jennifer’s undivided attention. They can expect her to listen to solutions that have been tried and to suggest new possible answers for their struggles. Patients can expect her to be knowledgeable in emotional regulation, family struggles, communication skills, and treatments for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and more. Patients can also expect her to continually grow in her own knowledge and skills. She regularly takes time to strengthen her professional skills by pursuing ongoing education. Jennifer has been providing therapy since 2016 and works with patients ages 14 and up. She uses a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, couples counseling, family systems, trauma-informed techniques, and LGBTQIA+-allied techniques to meet her patients’ needs. Outside of work, Jennifer loves hiking, music, film, and traveling. Her favorite four-legged creature is her German short-haired pointer, Zia. She has two adult children who still call her “Mom.” Jennifer enjoys working with SohoMD because of the supportive environment.
