About

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia with over 20 years of counseling experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I have worked in residential treatment facilities, the school setting, private practice and a hospital medical group. I have worked with a wide variety of clients with depression, anxiety, life stressors, relationship issues, codependency, parenting problems, attachment issues, foster care and adoption, trauma, Autism and ADHD.

I believe the most important aspect of the counseling work is the therapeutic relationship centered on attentive listening, unconditional acceptance and empathy. My approach is eclectic in nature with a combination of Client-centered, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. In addition, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR part 1 and 2) for use in alleviating distress associated with traumatic memories.
