My name is Jennifer Butler, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based out of Southern California, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds and identifying cultures and specialize in the treatment of trauma, stress, anxiety, grief, and depression using Person (Client) Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. My approach Because each individual is unique, my approach is catered to each individual client based on their needs. Although I use a lot of Person (Client) Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy, I can and will utilize other modalities should the client and I agree that it would be in the best interest of the client. My focus I have extensive experience working with teens, young adults, adults, and older adults, particularly with those who are dealing with grief, trauma, and or the challenges and transitions of life. I am familiar with and very comfortable with working with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds. My communication style My communication style is calm, light-hearted, and personable, yet honest and straightforward. I incorporate a lot of client-relatable metaphors into my practice to help clients retrieve skillsets discussed in sessions at a later time. I listen without judgment, and clients typically find themselves very comfortable and able to be themselves in sessions with me. My journey to therapy As a multilingual immigrant, married to a combat veteran, and raising biracial children, one of whom is special needs, I understand first-hand the importance of mental health and having a diverse, inclusive, and equitable experience in one's mental health journey. I have always had a passion for helping others and making a difference; in reflecting on what I can offer others based on my personal experiences and passion, becoming a therapist was a natural path for me.
