About
Being a part of a rapidly growing community that is embracing the balance of modern and traditional healing is my passion. I am currently registered as an LPC in the state of Oregon. I earned my Master’s degree in forensic mental health counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC. I spent time working individually and in groups with adolescents and adults incarcerated at Riker’s island, on probation, and in intensive community based outpatient treatment with children, adolescents, and their families.
Since trauma often happens in the context of relationships, so can healing. Research indicates that the therapeutic relationship is the most important indicator of successful therapy. Because of this, I value a feedback approach with the client, in order to build a strong, open therapeutic alliance. I utilize an evidence, strength based approach with a strong basis in motivational, humanistic principles, cognitive behavioral components, and experiential learning. We cannot heal just one aspect of a person, without considering personal history, family, and human culture as well. I work to collaborate with community partners and family members as appropriate.
After a long journey of formal education and hands on experience, I have become driven and focused in the realization that treating mental health is a balance of all things human. I earned a Level 2 Certificate in Ecotherapy from the Earthbody Institute in California where I learned somatic, experiential, art, and activism-based interventions aimed at connecting with nature to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
With so many spending time in an office setting waiting for a chance to go outside, is it any wonder traditional office-based psychotherapy is not always effective? It can be challenging, frustrating, and anxiety-producing to get mental health appointments in a timely manner that fit within your schedule. Life is an adventure. Online therapy helps us all to live it at our own pace.
Through online counseling I hope to team up with you to identify problems and work towards solutions that are adept with your lifestyle in order to increase your overall happiness and wellness.
