About
Hello,
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I obtained my Master or Arts in Counseling and Addiction Studies in 2016 from Waynesburg University. I have been licensed for just over 1 year in Texas, but have been working in the field of mental health counseling for 5 years. Additionally, I am currently one year into my PhD program with a specialization in Trauma and Disaster Response at Northcentral University. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, transition/adjustment and day-to-day coping. I have experience working with individuals, families and groups and have some experience working with couples.
Counseling is my passion. I love working with people to better their mental health, functioning, and overall lives. I knew from a young age that I was an empath and a helper. I met a counselor that changed my life for the better when I was a teenager, and I have known since then that counseling was exactly what I wanted to do. I consider myself monumentally fortunate to have found a career and a passion in the same thing!
Within counseling I have additional passions. One is working with the LGBTQ population as I have extensive knowledge of the struggles this population can face. I believe that all people deserve love, compassion, support and understanding regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. I am an advocate for equal rights and have been all of my adult life. I love helping fellow members of this community lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Additionally, I am passionate about trauma survivors. I believe that walking with someone on their journey to wellness after a trauma is one of the most precious things a counselor can do, and I am always happy to take that walk with someone.
My therapeutic style involves helping you to gain insight, skills, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. I am a person-centered, humanistic counselor. I believe that you are the master of your existence; I am here simply to support and guide you on your journey as you see fit. We don’t just talk. I can provide you with concrete tools and help you to develop realistic goals for your life. I will also help you to break those goals down into manageable steps that you can feel great about accomplishing.
I so look forward to working with you!
