Welcome! My name is Jenai (pronounced JAH-NAY). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. I currently have 3+ years of experience working with clients regarding concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, interpersonal difficulties, family relationships, trauma, substance abuse, romantic relationship difficulties, grief, problem-solving and major life transitions.

I believe in meeting you where you are and working together as a team to get you where you need (and want!) to be. I form collaborative relationships with my clients - I may know counseling theories and techniques, but you are the expert of you. So, it is important for you to have input and for your voice to be just as present as mine during this process. We both have something to bring to the table in this relationship. I come to every session operating with the 3 conditions of Person-Centered Therapy in mind: Unconditional Positive Regard, Empathy, and Genuineness. These 3 conditions help to ensure that each client feels empowered, comfortable, and respected.

I also believe in focusing energy on what we as individuals can control and change, because that is where our power lies. We cannot control other people or external events, but we can choose how we respond to them. Our thoughts influence our emotions and behavior greatly. So in focusing on choosing the healthiest way to interpret and react to our thoughts leads to changes in our emotions, behaviors, and ultimately, our lives. With this in mind, my therapeutic orientation is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
