The silver lining in these situations is that we all can experience positive change and positive growth with these set backs. I am one of the most relate-able therapist you will encounter. I come from a long line of family members with a helping background, caring spirit and a gift to inspire others. I have over 18 Years of experience working with individuals with mood disorders, addiction challenges, and Life issues. I use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach in most sessions and I have also found Solution Focus Therapy to be beneficial for many clients as well. I have a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from Winston Salem State University. I also have a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Appalachian State University. I have 15 years of background in Emergency Services, so I understand the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue and negative coping methods related to traumatic experiences associate with Emergency Responders. My background also involves working with an array of clients from 5 to 72 with various challenges and concerns. Whether you are a young parent 19-29 that needs pointers on better communicating with your child or other family members, or an adult 40-55 that is stuck at the crossroads of middle age and need help finding life's purpose and enjoyment, Let me assist you with your developing a philosophy for life and legacy, or address negative feeling of self-worth, anger, life's challenges, and addictive behaviors. Many times we are called upon to be caregivers for aging parents 55+ , let's discuss the challenges that affect our mood, behaviors and thoughts as we watch our love ones transition into their golden years.
I have worked with Children from as young as 5 to 17 years of age with issues such as dealing with absentee parents, loss of a caregiver, bullying and substance use. I understand that growing up today is much different than life was 35-40 years ago, considering technology age and access to social media influences.
