Once you have made the decision to seek counseling, choosing the right counselor to build a supportive and trusting relationship may feel overwhelming . I would like to provide some information about my style and experience to help make your decision easier.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Nurse in Illinois and Arizona. I have over 25 years of behavioral health and addiction treatment experience. I have worked with populations across the life span but generally work with adults age 18 and up. My primary focus has been on clients who are attempting to cope with stressful life situations and those who may be overwhelmed by depression and or anxiety. I have extensive experience in dealing with complex trauma and addiction issues. As a certified alcohol and drug counselor, I have worked with numerous individuals struggling with emotional sobriety and reaching stability. I hope to help build a supportive and trusting relationship that promotes personal growth and addresses coping difficulties.
My style is client centered, and strength based. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and adjust my style to meet the needs of my clients. As a Registered Nurse, I am aware of how acute and chronic medical issues can impact your daily functioning and life experience.
