About

Welcome! After years of working as a psychologist at inpatient settings ,with people with serious physical and psychological challenges as well as online therapy, I have blended mindfulness oriented cognitive therapy , mind-body stress reduction techniques such as acupressure and meditation , and coaching strategies into an integrated therapeutic approach......to help people with anxiety, depression, stress, sleep problems, and difficulty in relationships.
I have worked extensively with adults of all ages and am respectful of and enthused to work with a wide variety of people, including those who are spiritually oriented and or religious

In terms of psychotherapeutic/coaching approach, I generally focus cognitive therapy strategies to identify beliefs, assumptions and emotional “knots” that are self-defeating and self diminishing. This is a process that opens up the possibility of replacing them with self-affirming, creative and confidence-building thought patterns and emotions. The aim is to build resilience, increased gratitude and motivation to positive action.
Acupressure, Mindfulness, and meditation are tools that can promote stress reduction and overall mind-body integration. There are hundreds if not thousands of scientific studies which support their effectiveness in improving outlook, emotional tone, confidence, and physical health and vitality.
Acupressure involves the same principles as acupuncture (but without the needles) to provide a powerful stress reduction involving key areas of the brain involved in triggering the stress response, which itself is the trigger for anxiety and all kinds of other distressing feelings, thoughts and behavior patterns that disrupt out ability to experience happiness, , confidence, and harmonious relationshios. Mindfulness and meditation are similar in that they aim to train, focus ,strengthen and calm mind and body. Meditation is aimed primarily on focusing, concentration and inner tranquility. Mindfulness is a type of insight awareness that focuses specifically to increase awareness of the present moment and paying attention to what is important. Emotional distress, from any number of possible sources, is primarily why you and most people are seeking therapy and I am glad that you are doing so.
I am enthused to work with a wide variety of people, including spiritually oriented and religious people. I don’t seek to explain or turn people away from their beliefs; rather to enhance their personal religious/spiritual experience and awareness within the context of their overall life.
I specialize in the following challenges that people deal with:

Stress: Feeling overwhelmed, drained, or chronically over alert and tense
Anxiety: General, worries and feeling overwhelmed or needing always to "gear up" with social/interpersonal, health, financial and safety
Depression: pessimism, low energy, gloominess, general negativity and lack of motivation or enthusiasm
Sleep problems: Difficulty falling or staying asleep, inability to wind down in the evening
Lack of confidence and self-worthiness , inferiority feelings,
Relationship issues: Irritability, over guardedness, jealousy, insecurity in relationships
Work stress: interpersonal, feelings overworked, lack of feeling competent,
For online therapy, at this time I don't work with people who are dealing with addiction, psychosis, suicidal thoughts or behavior, PTSD, or serious anger issues including issues involving abusing violent behavior. For these kinds of issues, there may be other counselors/therapists who may have the expertise or experience to work with you effectively. It is important that you work with a therapist with the appropriate confidence and expertise to deal with your most important issues.
