About
My name is Jeanne. I will be happy to help you. Allow me to introduce myself! As a counselor for 30 years, I have worked with all walks of life, including people suffering from intense anxiety and depression to ongoing drug abuse, trauma, childhood abuse, ADD and ADHD, divorce issues regarding both parents and children, divorce mediation, psychosis, and everything in between. I simply enjoy working with people, as this is my passion. My approach is warm, compassionate, never judgmental, and always honest. There is no issue, too big or too small, that I am not willing to work on and give my best effort to help improve the quality of a person’s life. I believe for therapy to be successful, a therapist must be flexible, open-minded, educated, and knowledgeable, as well as compassionate and, of course, caring. Being genuine and caring is of absolute high importance! In 1989, I began a 12-year, eye-opening experience working with children in foster care who had been abused or neglected. I provided therapy and case management for children, foster parents, and natural parents involved with the Department of Children and Family Services. After an intense and rewarding experience, I began employment as a psychotherapist in a psychiatric hospital. I provided individual and family therapy for people hospitalized due to suicidal or homicidal risk. During this time, I was approved and appointed by the local court system to serve as a parenting instructor and divorce mediator for people ordered to comply with rule 943 issued by the Illinois State Supreme Court. This rule mandates parents to complete a parenting class and participate in mediation for any court filings involving custody or parenting time. I will continue this work today. In 2012, I contracted with the federal government to provide mental health and substance abuse therapy for people recently released from federal prison.
