Javier A. Cosme, MS, RMHCI received his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Saint Thomas University in Miami, FL. He has experience in the field of mental health since 2018 and has worked in settings such as Crisis Stabilization Units, Residential Inpatient Treatment Centers, Community Health Centers and Non-Profit organizations. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Javier is a Mental Health Counselor and registered Intern. His clinical experience includes working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families with various psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, addiction, and trauma, as well as issues faced by Hispanics, men, and musicians. Javier also has extensive experience working in the community through case management services. Being certified as a SOAR Benefits Specialist, he has experience as a liaison linking clients to benefits and resources through the Social Security Administration. Some populations Javier worked with in this capacity include clients experiencing homelessness and Severe Mental Illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizoaffective Disorders. Javier uses the evidence-based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Strength- Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to meet the diverse care needs of his clients. “My main goal is to help you identify your strengths and qualities while reframing and taking control of your own narrative. You are not strong BECAUSE of what happened to you, you are strong DESPITE what has happened to you!”
