About
My name is Janine Ochoa, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have worked with adolescents in foster care, as well as currently working with adults in substance counseling, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, just to name a few. I have used many approaches, however, have enhanced my skills in cognitive behavioral therapy and attachment-based therapy, to assist my clients in learning coping skills and enhancing their own self-determination. My approach I like to ensure that the approach is directly specialized to each client. I have generally used attachment-based therapy to make connections from the past and how it has affected the present in order to improve the quality of life. The cognitive behavioral therapy is used by recognizing behavioral patterns, that hinder growth, replacing them with healthier ways of thinking. My focus I have seen how the approach I utilize has helped adolescents and adults who have been enduring challenges with belonging and self-acceptance. This often takes the form of substance use, self-deprecation, and hopelessness, just to name a few. I strive to help my clients create greater self-love and develop a more positive outlook on themselves and the world around them. My communication style I create an environment that is calm and secure for the client to express themselves without reservations. It is a non-judgmental zone where clients can comfortably express anything they need to. My journey to mental healthcare I have always loved listening to others and strived to help with any knowledge I have in order to encourage them. I have worked with the homeless population and teens in school. I have seen such a great need for more therapists who can help as a guidance tool to enhance lives. I like to see people become the best version of themselves and live their best lives. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative event where the client gets to choose what they would like to work on, this is your time!
