I completed my undergraduate work at Rhode Island College where I obtained a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Chemical Dependency and Addiction Studies. I completed my master’s degree in Social Work and a certificate in Urban Leadership at Simmons University in Boston, MA. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, outpatient, and in-home. Simply it means that I have had experience working in various environments and with a variety of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, family/relationship conflicts, work stress, and crisis situations. I also have experience working with immigration/acculturation issues, and GLBTQIA concerns. My dedication to the field of mental health stems from my personal experience with it. I immigrated to the U.S. as a young girl, where I witnessed firsthand the mental stress that navigating systems can cause families and individuals. There is still so much stigma around having mental health issues, the process for getting help can be overwhelming, and it can feel so frustrating and lonely. However, I also know from experience how much life can change for the better when taking positive steps to improve your overall well-being.
