About
My ideal client would be motivated to achieve better for themselves. They could be coming for anxiety, issues in relationships, or a stressful life event. They would be choosing to focus on themselves, what they need, and seeking help. They may be struggling with negative self-thoughts and emotional regulation or simply need guidance in how to identify and verbalize their feelings. Their goals for therapy would be to process their thoughts and emotions while developing long-term skills to use in the future. I would utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connected to the client's presenting problem. The client and I would work collaboratively as a team to develop goals that are both realistic, but also push them a bit outside of their comfort zone to encourage change. If a person experiences a cough or a stuffed-up nose, they go to see their doctor. I believe we should treat mental health the same way we would treat a cold or another physical illness. Mental illness takes a tremendous strain on an individual's mind and body, and I believe that deserves to be taken seriously.
