About

I am a Licensed Master of Social Work, certified in Trauma and Telehealth. I arrived in this role through my passion for the field of education and learning. I experienced my own trauma and loss when I was in high school. With the support of many caring school faculty and staff, I moved forward, and my resilience grew. Ultimately, I decided to pursue teaching to give back to the next generations. After beginning my teaching career, I quickly realized that academia did not serve students by helping them to develop life skills. There was no one educating them about the emotional aspects of life. Although my students were learning how to read, write and solve mathematically problems, they lacked the knowledge they needed to deal with real life; how to cope with the emotional, psychological, and social aspects of becoming a contented and fulfilled human. It was that insight that led me to realize what I had a passion for; to help people develop their emotional intelligence. So, I obtained my Masters Of Social Work at SUNY/Stony Brook University. I started the path towards becoming a therapist and worked within traditional and alternative school settings, residential settings, and non-profit organizations. I have worked with clients of all ages; however, I have extensive experience in working with adolescents and their families.I utilize evidence-based practices to treat issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, phobias, interpersonal and relationship challenges, low self-esteem, sexuality, and life adjustments. I strive to help my clients build healthy coping skills, improve self-esteem and empower them to reach their mental health goals. I do this by assisting clients in articulating connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions to understand better where they have been and what direction they now wish to go. While changing behaviors and feelings is always tricky, it is never something that we need to face alone.
