I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 50 years of clinical experience. I have had a variety of experience throughout my career. I started out doing inpatient psychiatric work with veterans. I then had several years of experience doing private practice before becoming part of a family agency practice for 20 years. I then went back to working with active duty military personnel and their spouses. As an active duty member, I was a Social Work Officer in the Army for five and one-half years. I was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas and Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. Over the last several years I have worked as an Military Family Life Counselor and have worked at Fort Eustis, Langley Air Force Base, Fort Bragg and with Naval Special Warfare for the last 6 years at Little Creek Naval Base. I graduated with a Masters of Social Work degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. I very much enjoy working with people individually helping them to sort out what's going on with them in their life individually, at work or in their relationships. My approach is a client centered approach which emphasizes listening and understanding the client and treating the client with respect and empathy. I believe in establishing trust with a client and building that trust so that the client can talk about and deal with whatever his or her issues are in a safe environment. To me the relationship between the client and therapist is the key ingredient to doing the work of therapy.
