Hi there, I'm Jamal! My name is Jamal Arogundade and I am Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, DC and I am working with clients via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ issues using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy to help clients address their problems. My approach My conversational style of therapy combines strengths based and client centered approaches that are tailored to the needs of clients. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy as these modalities allow me to explore a client's inner world, strengths, and barriers. My focus I primarily work with adults, who are experiencing the challenges of life that are often caused and worsened by systemic issues. I primarily have worked with clients struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. I work to help my clients address their problems, build their skills, and promote their self and communal empowerment. My communication style My communication style is warm, engaging, and focused on mutual respect and the fostering of a trusting therapeutic relationship. I want clients to feel comfortable talking with me as I know it takes courage to unburden yourself. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is client centered. I believe it is essential for clients to have a safe and comfortable space where trust is continuously built and fostered and goals are identified and work towards during and outside of our time together.
