I have a BS in sports management from the University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana. I later discovered counseling was a better fit and I went on to complete my MA in marriage and family counseling from Governors State University. I am a licensed professional counselor who utilizes solution focused therapy, emotional focused therapy, and attachment theory. I value the the therapeutic relationship as the catalyst for change and take strength based approaches to empower independence. My approach has been described as a velvet glove over an iron fist. I take a gentle approach to clinical challenges to promote change.

I have experience working in private practice treating families, couples, and ages 4 years old on up. I also have experience as a counselor in a residential adult substance abuse setting as well as EAP (employee assistance program). I previously supervised a behavioral health call center for a major global manage care/EAP organization. I encourage holistic health and may encourage you to develop a relationship with your medical provider to assure your physical health can support your optimum mental health.

I have a rat terrier/chihuahua named Little Papa, enjoy home gardening and volunteering with my community garden and as a congressional advocate with the Alzheimer's Association. I also am a post-baccalaureate biomedical sciences student at Lewis University.
