I love what I do. I think that's an essential part of being a helpful therapist. I've been told by clients that I'm authentic, compassionate, sincere, and frank. I was trained at NYU Silver School of Social Work where the clinical orientation is primarily psychodynamic. Using that as my touchstone, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral, ACT, and Mindfulness therapies to help my clients. My clinical experience is working with young adults, adults, and the aged to address trauma, loss, depression, anxiety, and more severe mental illnesses. A large number of my clients are coming to therapy for the first time or trying it again after a dissatisfying experience with a past therapist. I make it my business to demystify therapy and provide framing and context for why we are doing what we are doing and collaborate with my clients to build trust. Some of the feedback I've gotten from clients after our first session is that they are pleasantly surprised with how easy I am to talk with and that they feel a sense of relief to have someone who is human and relatable to work with. Though therapy is often difficult, it doesn't need to be painful. I try to ensure some light gets into the therapy space using gentle levity and my sense of humor with my clients.
