As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Jackie works with the young adult and adult population on a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, work stress, adjustment issues, grief and loss, infertility, and relationship issues. Jackie has extensive experience with substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. Jackie utilizes techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Person-Centered, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Jackie was born and raised in the DC area. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from George Mason University and her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University. Jackie completed her clinical internship at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority, receiving advanced training in individual, couples, and group therapy for both mental health and substance use disorders. Prior to joining My Psychiatrist, she worked extensively with young adults, adults, couples, and families in correctional, inpatient, and outpatient counseling settings. Jackie has experience conducting Substance Abuse Assessments and Evaluations. She spent the last three years at Kolmac Outpatient Recovery Center as the Lead Counselor and then later promoted to Assistant Clinical Director. Jackie’s approach to therapy is empathetic and understanding. Within the therapeutic relationship, Jackie and the client will create a safe, collaborative environment for the client to gain greater insight into self and presenting issues. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, barre classes, traveling, and spending time with family and her dogs.
