About
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, with advanced certification as a dialectical behavior therapist. I have over 20 years experience working in the counseling field. I also hold certifications in energy healing modalities, including Reiki. I am authored in the field of energy healing as well as energy psychology, and I teach energy psychology workshops, having written curriculum for more than 50 courses in this field. I have a passion for holistic healing, and have completed extensive coursework in Chinese herbal medicine, diagnosis, and treatment modalities. I also studied Tuina Anmo, which is a form of Chinese physical therapy, as well as Thai medical massage therapy, and circulatory massage therapy. I have completed advanced courses in anatomy, neuroanatomy, and psychopharmacology. While I am not a medical doctor, and do not give medication advice, these studies set me apart from many of my counseling peers, and give me greater patient insight. In addition I am a certified teacher, with previous experience as a high school English teacher. It was there--working with at-risk youth--that I developed my passion for helping people, which lead me to go back to school and study the healing arts, including clinical psychology. I am also a certified marital arts instructor, and have developed and taught self defense curricula in a counseling treatment center, as well as taught rape prevention seminars to help empower female patients at a day treatment facility (this is a facility that provides a level of care halfway between inpatient and outpatient). I have a great interest in (and knowledge of) several Asian cultures. I have traveled to 20 countries, and have studied abroad in China, where I spent time in 10 different provinces. I have received certification in crisis prevention, crisis intervention, and have been certified to work on the national crisis line, where I spent time helping people who were actively in crisis.
