After a decade working with global mental health, Dr. Hod Tamir recognized fundamental challenges to mental health and wellbeing. Patients faced immense stigma and healthcare was often compartmentalized to an individual diagnosis as opposed to addressing the whole person. WiSR was designed to move beyond the narrow view of mental health and uses a broad multi-faceted approach to health and wellness. In addition to clinical interventions, WISR includes community, fitness, nutrition, nature, meditation and spirituality to reach optimum health and wellbeing. Above all else, WiSR is is a judgement-free space to share, heal, and grow. Hod is a developmental psychologist and licensed mental health counselor. He completed his postdoctoral training fellowship at ICAP-Columbia University Medical Center. In 2015, Hod was selected for the National Institutes of Health Fogarty Fellowship and awarded the Global Health Equity Scholarship to implement mental health interventions in India. He received his PhD in Psychology at Florida International University in Miami. Dr. Tamir has been on the faculty of Touro College and Florida International University, and has given guest lectures at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He lives in Brooklyn with his family.
