Hi there, I'm Hector! My name is Hector Barajas, and I am a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about helping children, adolescents and families meet their full potential. I work with children and teens who are struggling with emotional dysregulation, defiance, anger, depression and social-emotional challenges. My approach I have a solution-focused approach to therapy and utilize different therapeutic modalities dependent on the individual needs of the client. With this approach we will focus on your strengths, support network and resources in order to elicit positive change. My focus My expertise lies in working with children, and teen/adolescents who suffer from depression, anxiety, anger and defiance. I specialize in treating adolescents and juveniles in a group setting. I have over 10 years of experience developing rapport with at-risk-youth who are experiencing behavior issues at school and at home. I utilize evidence-based therapies including MAP, Seeking Safety, PCIT, and IPT. I have extensive experience working with Los Angeles Department of Mental Health programs (FSP, SMART, PET, CRTP, ICD) My communication style The environment and relationship that is created during the treatment is a safe, friendly and proactive session. This will help you and your child identify their own strengths, and support system to achieve success. My journey to mental healthcare One of the reasons why I became a Marriage and Family Therapist was to work with children and teens who don't have the support to manage life stressors that create unhealthy habits and behaviors. The progress, small or big, I see my clients experience is what makes me enjoy my career as a mental health therapist.
