My name is Heather and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. My past experience includes over 15 years of working in community mental health, and I also have experience as a school based counselor. I operate from a strengths based and person centered approach, and believe that everyone can grow and improve their life, regardless of their circumstances. Though I primarily use interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I adapt my approach to meet the needs of my clients. I believe it is important to look forward toward solutions, rather than focusing on issues from the past. My specialties include treating children and adolescents, as well as adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and doing puzzles. With three children as well as 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 donkeys, and a flock of chickens, my family stays pretty busy. Our favorite things to do together are spending time outside as well as playing soccer and board games. I believe that spending time in nature is very important for mental health, and I try to make this a priority for my family.
