About

Hi there, I'm Glenna! Hi, my name is Glenna Hawn. I am a licensed clinical social worker. I enjoy working with individuals who are feeling stuck and helping them create positive change. My approach I believe positive change happens when we focus on what is happening now and identify what we need to do to move forward. I value the intrinsic strength and wisdom of the individual and feel they know best what is needed for themselves. My approach to therapy is as a supportive presence in that process and to provide insight and skills along the way. I have extensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy as well as family systems theory. My focus I enjoy working with individuals as they adjust through life’s stages. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, postpartum depression and perinatal loss, relationship struggles, trauma, and major life changes and events. My communication style I am a good listener with a direct but calm and empathetic approach. My hope is that individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered. My journey to mental healthcare I started out getting the only job I could find in my small town doing case management with adults diagnosed with severe mental illness. I enjoyed that work very much and continued for about ten years in outpatient mental health case management and therapy. My area of focus changed to psychiatric work and then medical social work. I decided last year to return to doing individual therapy as I wanted to really focus on the individual and get to know them rather than the hectic pace of hospital work. My goals for you I start by letting the client share what they are struggling with, why they have sought therapy, and what they hope to accomplish. I think it is important to just spill it at first and through that process, we can sort out the client’s values, priorities, and goals.
