Hi there! My name is Giselle and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently practicing in Nevada, but I am also licensed to practice in my home state of Michigan. I began my social work journey by obtaining my Bachelor's degree in social work (BSW) in 2015 from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. At that point, I accepted a full time job as an intake coordinator at the substance abuse treatment center where I completed my BSW internship. I elected to further my education the following year with one of the top rated schools of social work in the nation: the University of Michigan, where I obtained my Master's degree in social work by December 2017. Throughout my six years of experience in the field (including my internships), I have primarily focused on substance abuse and mental health, which allowed me to become a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the state of Michigan. More specifically, I have worked with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, mild to severe substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, codependency, anger management issues, self harm, and chronic physical illnesses. Additionally, I spent almost two years providing therapy to U.S. Court ordered clients, which gave me plenty of experience with rehabilitating criminogenic behaviors and providing support to individuals going through major life adjustments.

My ultimate goal as a therapist is to create safe spaces where my clients can speak freely and feel empowered enough to fully tackle the issues that they are struggling with. My philosophy is that every single one of us has the inherent potential to survive and thrive in our lives, but this is often held back due to the seemingly never ending obstacles and stressors that life throws in our way. I became a therapist to provide support to people who want and/or need to realize that potential. I love helping my clients develop emotional awareness and understanding, and I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities including: cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I strive to create a collaborative relationship with my clients that is based on trust and empathy because I believe a therapeutic experience will not be beneficial without having these important factors. I’d love to work with you to talk out any of the struggles you’re going through because in the words of the late and great Mr. Fred Rogers: “Anything mentionable is manageable.”
