About

Hello all you Arrows!! I am Gina (Mia) - a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Virginia with over 7 years of experience in the field. Specializing in working with younger populations and in the area of trauma, I am dedicated to helping clients overcome a range of mental health issues, including depression, stress, and anxiety, coping with addictions, LGBT-related issues, trauma and abuse. I also provide couples counseling and am familiar in Gottmans theories and methods.
I believe that each client is the expert of their own story, and i am committed to empowering YOU to tap into your own strengths and overcome the challenges you face. I understand that seeking therapy takes courage and is a brave journey. I am dedicated to supporting and guiding YOU on yours journey towards a more fulfilling and happier life. Think of me link the bow, and you the arrow. All I am doing is pointing you in the direction that is right for you.
I have a compassionate persona centered approach, combined with extensive experience and knowledge in the field. I will make an excellent choice for anyone looking for a therapist who truly cares about their well-being. Whether you are looking for support in overcoming a specific issue or simply seeking a more fulfilling life, I am here to help YOU.
In addition to her work experience, I have a deep understanding of the latest research and treatment modalities in the field. I use an integrative approach, drawing from various evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices, to create a personalized treatment plan for you. I also have training in TF-CBT, play therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Nurturing Parenting and ASAM (Addiction). My latest area of interests includes how to create a healthy video gaming mentality and the effects of social media on human empathy.
I also place a great emphasis on the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. I desire to create and foster a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable opening up and exploring your thoughts and feelings. Additionally, I am an ally and advocate and member of the LGBTQ+ community, and POC, and any oppressed community. My focus is geared toward providing a welcoming and accepting environment for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity or culture.
Outside of my professional work, I am an avid supporter of the local community here in VA and believe in giving back. I regularly volunteer my time and expertise to organizations that help individuals dealing with mental health concerns, particularly those that support the LGBTQ+ community.
If you are looking for a therapist who will listen, understand, and guide you on your journey towards healing and growth, look no further! With my vast experience, compassionate approach, and support for the community, I am ready to help you achieve your goals and live a happier and more fulfilling life.
