About

Hello my name is Dr. Gerald Brown (Doc Brown for short)!
I have have earned my Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Clinical Supervision from UNC Charlotte and my Master of Science in Counselor Education from East Carolina University. (LCMHC-S#10326 NC)
I want you to experience more than counseling... I want to help you experience your life journey through transformational self-discovery because knowing thyself is life's most important purpose!
Are you coping with feelings of anxiety, depression, and/or anger? Are your marital issues so serious that you believe that you cannot carry on? Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Is your teenager exhibiting difficult behaviors? Are you feeling burned out at work, in college, searching for clarification in your career path, or trying to find meaning in life?... We will work together and empower you to help yourself! I have over 11 years of experience in bilingual individual, couples, and family counseling and life coaching.
My expertise is geared primarily towards adolescents, teens, and individuals of adult age, mainly with normal situational and developmental issues. I have experience with challenges ranging from low self-esteem and general anxiety to severe depression, trauma, and suicidal ideation. My passion is helping those in life transitions.
My work has involved the special populations of those with mild to moderate mental and physical health conditions (e.g. high functioning Autism), LGBTQI individuals, military families and veterans, Spanish speaking individuals, couples, and families, and mixed/adoptive families. I believe in helping others find meaning and integrate meaning with various resiliencies in life. I work from a multicultural humanistic/existential philosophy in which being authentic, cultivating our various resiliencies, finding purpose and meaning, and reframing challenges as opportunities for growth is integral to the process.
I look forward to beginning our journey together...

Please bear in mind that it is best to contact me directly prior to setting up a time for a live session as my weekly schedule varies frequently and this gives us an opportunity to collaborate on a mutually agreeable time window for a live session.
