I believe that change occurs through exploration of feelings, awareness of thoughts, and a commitment toward healthy behaviors. My philosophy for counseling is based on a cognitive behavioral approach. What this means is that many times the feelings we have and the emotions we experience are directly related to our thoughts. If we can change how we think, we can change how we feel. This isn't to say that the events in our life are not significant; but rather, examining how we view these events, the
relationships in our lives, and the expectations we have for each can have a profound impact on the quality of our lives. I have enjoyed partnering with clients as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years and feel there is a positive correlation between the progress a client makes and the connection in the therapeutic relationship. My focus during our time together will be on creating a safe space for you to feel listened to, supported, and encouraged so that you can create change that is self-sustainable.
